Biography
Dr. Sakiba Khan is a board-certified internal medicine physician who has been caring for adults since completing her residency. She is passionate about helping her patients become the healthiest, happiest version of themselves through personalized, relationship-based concierge care. She believes the best healthcare begins with meaningful relationships, a deep understanding of the whole person, and a shared commitment to long-term wellness.
Her clinical interests include preventive and lifestyle medicine, women's health, and evidence-based integrative medicine. She has a particular interest in supporting women through different stages of adulthood, including postpartum care and conversations around hormone therapy, while providing comprehensive primary care tailored to each patient's unique needs and goals.
Dr. Khan earned bachelor's degrees in Philosophy and Biochemistry before completing medical school at the University of California, San Diego and her residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA Medical Center. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and is also a certified yoga instructor, reflecting her interest in movement, nutrition, stress management, and healthy living.
Growing up in a family of scientists shaped Dr. Khan's appreciation for evidence-based medicine, while her family's openness to both Eastern and Western approaches to healing inspired her interest in caring for the whole person. Today, her recommendations are grounded in science while recognizing the important role that lifestyle, emotional well-being, and each patient's personal goals play in achieving long-term health.
Dr. Khan chose Internal Medicine because it allows her to care for patients through every stage of adulthood rather than focusing on a single condition or organ system. She has long been inspired by the philosophical concept of gestalt, the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. That philosophy continues to guide the way she practices medicine, taking the time to understand how each patient's medical history, lifestyle, emotional health, and personal goals come together to influence their overall well-being.
Throughout her career, Dr. Khan has cared for patients in a variety of settings, including UCLA's Motion Picture Clinic, where she provided primary care to actors, musicians, and other entertainment professionals. She later served as Medical Director of an urgent care clinic, leading initiatives that improved patient satisfaction, clinical quality, and the overall patient experience. Those experiences reinforced what she values most: building trusted, lasting relationships with her patients.
What drew Dr. Khan to Discover Health was the opportunity to practice medicine the way she believes it should be practiced. Concierge care gives her the time to truly get to know her patients, guide them through important health decisions, and celebrate improvements in their health over time. She describes her approach as proactive, personalized, collaborative, and nonjudgmental, creating an environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to take an active role in their health.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Khan enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, exploring the outdoors, and traveling. She believes many of the most meaningful improvements in health happen outside the exam room and enjoys helping patients build practical, sustainable habits that support healthier, happier lives.
Dr. Khan is excited to welcome new patients to Discover Health's San Francisco practice and looks forward to partnering with them to achieve their long-term health goals through compassionate, personalized care.
