Microneedling With PRP: Your Natural Facelift

What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also commonly known as collagen induction therapy, creates hundreds of tiny pinholes in the top layer of skin or epidermis by using a FDA approved electronic device called the SkinPen. These superficial, tiny pinholes induce a healing process. This process essentially tricks the body into thinking the skin is actually damaged. As a result new collagen is created, which improves damage caused by acne scars, sunspots, wrinkles, and numerous other skin imperfections.

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a treatment, which is specific to each patient. Blood is drawn from the patient and then processed to separate platelets, which are responsible for blood clotting, from the other parts of the blood such as red cells. After the treatment is finished, the patient’s platelets are then topically applied to the treatment area using the microneedling SkinPen.

Improves Appearance of Skin

Microneedling has been shown to improve the damage caused by many different types of skin imperfections including acne scars, sun spots, melasma, thinning, sagging, and wrinkles.

Natural and Non-Invasive

Compared to other aesthetics options, microneedling with PRP, is non-invasive and does not use surgery, injections, or harsh lasers to achieve the benefits.

The Body Heals Itself

Microneedling with PRP jump-starts the body’s healing response. It’s this reaction that causes new collagen to form, which improves skin imperfections like scars, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and enlarged pores.

Short Recovery with Minimal Down Time

Avoiding the sun, makeup, synthetic-based creams is critical for the first 24 hours and application of collagen boosting serum is highly advised to obtain maximum results. Mild redness or pinkness, with skin tightening, warmth to the surface of skin, and mild irritation are common for the first 18-24 hours.

Long Lasting Results With Minimal Discomfort

Microneedling with PRP delivers long lasting benefits. When working on imperfections such as scars or sunspots, the results are permanent unless new scars are formed or the patient continues to be exposed to the sun without protection. The benefits of natural facelift, diminishing fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin can last upwards of 12 months with just 3 treatments. Dr. Youngren uses a mild topical numbing cream on the areas that will be treated. Since microneedling only penetrates the top layer of skin, there are very few sensory nerves to trigger pain.

It’s overall a comfortable yet invigorating facial experience.
